Commercial roof maintenance is easy to put off but can have disastrous consequences if something goes wrong. Water which cannot drain properly will result in thousands of dollars in damages. Since Vancouver weather includes a lot of wind and rain, this is not a task to overlook, particularly with the building’s gutter system.
The larger size of these systems compared to residential gutters means more opportunity for debris to become lodged. To best protect your investment, establish a regular maintenance schedule that includes a twice-yearly cleaning of your commercial roof’s gutters. Spring and fall are the optimal times to ensure the gutters are ready for seasonal challenges: heavy spring rains early in the year, then fallen leaves and ice later in the year.
Look to hire a professional who is not only familiar with commercial building roof gutter cleaning, but who can check the integrity of the entire system. They should look for signs of corrosion, damage, and loose or deteriorating supporting materials. Gutters that are not securely attached risk falling and injuring people below. After an assessment, they should be able to fix any issues discovered.
One of the most common causes of leaks on flat-roofs is ponding water due to poor drainage. Regular gutter maintenance is the easiest (and cheapest) way to address this problem. A proactive approach to commercial gutter cleaning will not only save you money, but give you peace of mind.
